Tara Spencer Carleo joined the University of Denver in August 2012, bringing a unique dynamic to the Donor Relations & Stewardship team. She currently provides leadership for and delivery of several key donor programs. Tara manages the scholarship donor recognition process, oversees the endowment reporting process, manages various special events, and serves as the DR&S point of contact on all scholarship and endowment matters related to donors, while ensuring that their wishes and intent are continually being met.
Prior to her employment at the University, Tara was the office manager and executive assistant to the President/CEO at National Western Stock Show, where she oversaw a team of professionals, managed numerous budgets, ran international programming, provided event management services, and maintained the President/CEO’s calendar. Her background is also rich with experience in change management and business process reengineering and design as she worked for the world leader in change management research, ProSci, for seven years in roles of increasing responsibility.
Tara is a graduate of the University of Northern Colorado where she earned her Master’s Degree in Communication Studies. As a former Miss Rodeo Colorado and third generation cowgirl, she is proud of her western heritage. She continues her involvement with her family’s ranch, XS Heart Shires and Quarter Horses, as a world ranked equestrian. Tara married her husband, Luke Carleo, in June 2013 and they currently live in Denver. In her spare time, Tara enjoys travelling, scuba diving and playing classical and jazz piano.
