DU Assessment Program

DU Assessment Tools

Our office uses the following tools to assess and improve the effectiveness of DU's courses and programs.

  • Writing Student Learning Outcomes (PDF)
Use this guide to writing effective, meaningful, and measurable student learning outcomes.
  • DU Undergraduate Student Learning Outcomes (PDF)
View the University-wide student-learning outcomes for undergraduates, which was approved by the Undergraduate Council in May 2007.
  • DU Graduate and Professional Student Learning Outcomes (PDF)
See the University-wide student learning outcomes for students in graduate and professional programs, which was approved by the Graduate Council on May 6, 2009.
  • You can learn more about the outcomes and the process of their creation by enrolling in the DU Student Learning Outcomes Portfolio Community.
Note: you will need to log in to Portfolio first. Once you're logged in, go to the "DU Student Learning Outcomes" page, and click the "Subscribe" button in the upper-right corner.
  • Inclusive Excellence at the University of Denver
The Center for Multicultural Excellence's page on Inclusive Excellence explains the concept and importance of Inclusive Excellence. The site also includes an Inclusive Excellence toolkit to help programs and other units with self-assessment and improvement.
  • The University's Vision, Values, Mission and Goals (VVMG)
The University of Denver's statement of vision, values, mission and goals (VVMG) provides the foundation for all activities at the DU. With respect to assessment, academic units should structure their own discipline-specific learning goals, student learning outcomes, and assessment projects so all assessment activities are connected to and flow from the VVMG.
