“The Center for Constitutional Studies and Democratic Development, an interuniversity research center founded by the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies and the Faculty of Law at the University of Bologna, has collaborated with the DU/Bologna International Center for Civic Engagement on the Human Rights Film Festival and in bringing guest lectures to Bologna. The Center’s interests dovetail with both the social and scholarly interests of the CCSDD. We look forward to participating in the development of an international conference.”

“Co-teaching a small group of DU students in Bologna was unlike any other teaching experience. Given that we’ve spent so much time together, we were able to come to know each of our students much better than we typically can when we teach at home. We were able to learn about this fascinating country right along side them — especially as we traveled with them to Naples, Pompeii and Turin. For instance, at the Slow Food International in Turin, we were amazed to encounter the passion of small food producers who insisted on maintaining the highest standards and integrity in their crafts, and we delighted in the wonderful and aromas, textures and tastes of genuine foods we had never before encountered. Every time we see one of these students back on campus, we begin scheming about how to return to Italy for another excursion!”
