Featured Volunteer: Cle Symons
Clè Symons is retired from the newspaper business, and has spent the past nine years as a volunteer with the Bridge Project. Clè mentors a child from the South Lincoln Bridge site. She enjoys spending time with her mentee and understands the importance of being a mentor. “I feel the mentoring program is crucial part in preparing my student for a lifetime of success. I believe it is extremely powerful for a child to have a positive role model, to have someone to believe in them—to have someone say ‘I know you can do it.’
For me, I take great joy in being that person.”
Clè is also a dedicated tutor with the Bridge Project. She believes the time she invests with her student will have a remarkable impact in that child’s academic success. She knows spending just one hour a week will help the student she tutors improve in school. Her goal is to see her student continue her education by going to college. Concurrent with the mission of the Bridge Project, Clè has helped several students take an interest in their education over the years, by improving their grades and attending college.
