Zone Youth Center
The Bridge Project received federal funding from the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Minority Health in September 2006 to open a new youth center (Bridge's fourth site) for middle and high school youth. The center is located in South Lincoln near Bridge's South Lincoln site. It serves youth from all of the reamining three sites. Program activities began in February 2007 under the newly names ZONE (Zones of Opportunity and New Experiences).
The ZONE program model builds on existing partnerships between faculty and students at the University of Denver's Graduate School of Social Work. The program also benefits from volunteer undergraduate students attending the university's Center for Civic Engagement and Service Learning (CCESL). More than 100 youth participated in program activities in year one of the project. Funding continues through August 2009.
