Waive Health Insurance or Health Services Fee

Student Health Insurance Premium:

The Student Health Insurance Premium is assessed to most academic units on campus (excluding University College, Teacher Education Program and CLAMP, Vail MBA, Executive MBA, Graduate Tax among others). The premium is assessed each Fall and Spring term for students enrolled in one or more credit hours. The premium is included on the tuition bill and covers a six month period.

Students whose first term for an academic year is Winter or Summer, may opt into the Student Health Insurance Program with a prorated premium by filling out the appropriate enrollment form by the established deadline. A student may waive the insurance premium, provided the student is covered under another adequate health insurance policy.

Under the terms of the University's contract with our health insurance provider, if the annual waiver is not completed during Fall Quarter/Semester, a waiver will be required in the Spring Quarter/Semester and must be submitted by the established deadline.

Students who choose to waive the health insurance on an annual basis will not be able to opt back into the program throughout the year unless the student has experienced a loss of coverage. Students should contact Student Health Services at (303) 871-4136 for more information.

Student Health Services Fee:

The student Health Service fee is assessed each academic term for students registered in six or more credits hours. This fee is a mandatory fee for all undergraduates for all quarters in the academic year.

Graduate students may waive the fee for a specific quarter or the entire academic year by completing the waiver form at myWeb or WebCentral.

Currently registered students, who have not been automatically assessed the health and counseling fee upon registration, may enroll in the plan by contacting Student Health Services at (303) 871-4136.

Health Insurance Waiver:

To complete your insurance waiver form sign on to either myWeb or WebCentral.

In myWeb. Select "Student and Financial Aid", and then select "Registration". "Waive Health Insurance/Fee" is located towards the bottom of the list. Select it. You will have the option of either accepting the health insurance offered by the University of Denver or waiving it. If you choose to waive simply enter all the information on the form by the waiver deadlines below. Keep a copy of the email confirmation returned to you within 48 hours for your records.

In WebCentral, select the “Student” tab, and then “Accept/Waive Health Insurance” under Registration Tools. You will have the option of either accepting the health insurance offered by the University of Denver or waiving it. If you choose to waive simply enter all the information on the form by the waiver deadlines below. Keep a copy of the email confirmation returned to you within 48 hours for your records.

An annual waiver is available along with the six month waiver. If the annual waiver is selected purchasing DU's insurance plan will only be available if loss of coverage has occured.

If no option is selected by the start of term the University will access the health insurance fee to the student's account. The student must go to either myWeb or WebCentral and waive before the deadline listed below, if the insurance is not wanted.
