Learning to Lead

Students in DU’s Pioneer Leadership Program (PLP) do more than study leadership in the classroom—they live it every day. The program combines a living and learning community, service learning and traditional classroom work, helping DU undergraduates learn how to lead in every part of their lives.

PLP participants study the core ideals of great leadership in academic courses, earning a minor in leadership studies at the end of four years. But they also experience leadership first-hand by performing service in the community—tutoring high-risk kids, for example, or helping low-income people develop small businesses.

By living and working in a community of future leaders, PLP participants get ready for the responsibilities and challenges of leadership in the diverse and changing world of the 21st Century.
