Child Care and Family Resources at the University of Denver

CULTIVATING A FAMILY FRIENDLY UNIVERSITY ENVIRONMENT

"At the University of Denver, we believe that the finest intellectual climate is one that welcomes and involves many different kinds of people.  A family-friendlycampus enriches the diversity of the University Community by facilitating the engagement of students, faculty, and staff who benefit from child care, elder care, and other family services.  Fostering excellence at DU includes helping families make the most of quality assistance and resources to successfully balance scholarship, professional responsibilities, and care-giving."

Chancellor Robert Coombe

WELCOME TO THE CHILD CARE AND FAMILY RESOURCES WEBSITE

Caring for our families is a growing challenge for faculty, staff members, and students. Those who are parents or guardians want to insure the healthy growth and development of their children. Those with aging parents or relatives hope to provide comfort, companionship, and quality medical care for them. Many at DU fulfill both of these needs for their loved ones.

Child Care and Family Resources is a website dedicated to the needs of DU caregivers. Our priority is to provide resources and services that strengthen and support families of students, faculty, and staff.

CHILD CARE TASK FORCE AND ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Child Care Task Force at the University of Denver was initiated by Chancellor Robert Coombe in February 2006. Members of the Task Force studied the child care needs of the University Community in order to recommend the development of options for additional resources and more affordable solutions for child care for DU faculty, staff, and students. The Task Force was responsible for launching this website. In September 2007, the Task Force became an Advisory Committee and continues to study family needs and to advocate for a family-friendly University Community. Read more>>

RESOURCES FOR FACULTY, STAFF, AND STUDENTS

Smiling Boy Faculty, staff, and students at the University of Denver experience unique demands on their time, energy, and financial resources. Visit our web pages developed for faculty and staff and students to access information and resources for your family needs. You can also review the options for child and elder care at DU and in the Denver metro area. Our resources section also provides helpful fact sheets, articles, books, videos and DVDs, information for parents of school-age children, and a list of relevant organizations. Two online discussion groups, DU Parents and DU Elder Caregivers, enable all members of the University Community to share ideas and make connections with other caregivers.
