Center for Innovative and Talented Youth Through the Morgridge College of Education

NGVF

Next Generation Venture Fund

The Next Generation Venture Fund (NGVF) is a collaborative venture of the Duke University Talent Identification Program (Duke TIP), the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY), the Northwestern University Center for Talent Development (CTD), and the University of Denver Center for Innovative and Talented Youth (CITY) with the generous support of the Goldman Sachs Foundation and other donors. The fund builds a pipeline for high potential students from diverse backgrounds that leads from middle school, to college, to careers and into key leadership roles—opportunities that might otherwise be missed. NGVF offers financial help and academic resources to qualified eighth grade students, and continues to provide such services through their remaining pre-college years.

The mission of the Next Generation Venture Fund (NGVF) is to build a pipeline for high potential students from diverse backgrounds that will lead from high school to selective colleges and universities, and on to challenging careers and key leadership roles in society. To fulfill this mission, the NGVF Scholar, together with his or her parents, will participate in several activities and programs over the next four years.

NGVF Activities and Programs

  1. Yearly academic advising and educational planning and focused counseling in the junior and senior years
  2. A personalized academic/extracurricular college preparatory plan, designed in collaboration with a NGVF academic advisor
  3. Student and Parent Conferences
  4. SAT preparation courses
  5. Two summer studies programs held on university campuses
  6. One week business mentoring through the National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship and other organizations
