24/7 Student Access
CME staff aspires to make the CME study/work center as student friendly as possible. We have installed a new security system to ensure your 24-hour access to the CME for academic and cultural purposes. [MORE].
Students with Disabilities
The Center for Multicultural Excellence (CME) is currently housed in a site that is in some ways lacking in physical accessibility. Despite this we are dedicated to welcoming you to CME and all of our offerings. Should you wish to meet with us and find that our office space is inaccessible please feel welcome to call us and we will make arrangements to meet with you at an accessible site on campus. Furthermore, although we have met with staff from University Disability Services, we welcome any of your suggestions as to how we can improve in our efforts to include people with disabilities in our programs and ensure that disability is a fully-recognized and valued component of diversity at the University of Denver. LGBTIQA Services
Services for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex,and ally (LGBTIQA) individuals and communities.
CME offers a variety of services tailored to the needs of LGBTIQA individuals and communities. Services include providing consultation to student, staff, faculty and alumni groups; Providing confidential support and referrals around coming out, discrimination/harassment, workplace/academic issues, and more; Facilitating trainings on LGBTIQ issues; Providing resources and tools to promote ally development; Developing programs, initiatives, and policy changes that will positively impact DU’s campus climate for LGBTIQ staff, faculty, and students; Maintaining an LGBTIQA-focused lending library of books and DVDs; Providing funding for students to attend national leadership conferences; and, co-sponsoring the annual LGBTIQA Celebration Gala and other campus and community events, such as Homo Hop West and the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus 25th Anniversary Concert.

Graduate Student Services
In conjuction with the Office of Multicultural Faculty Recruitment and Retention and the Office of Graduate Studies and Research, CME provides graduate student services aimed at the recruitment and retention of GLBT graduate students and graduate students of color.In addition, we seek ways to ensure students have the academic, professional, and social support to complete their degrees. Social Justice Ally Institute
The Social Justice Ally Institute at the University of Denver provides a forum for DU staff members to develop professionally and personally by expanding their knowledge, skills and competencies for creating a welcoming, socially just environment and addressing issues of diversity at the University of Denver. The Social Justice Ally Institute is a developmental program that will involve personal growth in a variety of areas. The curriculum is designed to introduce and examine social justice concepts including (but not limited to) ally development, oppression, personal and social identity, identity development, and strategies for change. An ultimate goal is to create a cadre of social justice allies who will work as change agents for improving the climate for diversity at DU.
