the University of Denver’s 12th annual Diversity Summit on Inclusive Excellence
DAY OF ACTION
Saturday, May 11, 2013
A new addition to the Summit for 2013 is an additional day of campus outreach to future students and families. We are partnering with DUSC (DU Service and Change) to make this possible!
We will be hosting up to 400 Munroe Elementary School (kindergarten – fifth grade) students and parents on the DU campus in order to help these Denver Public School families better understand the process of preparing for college. The majority of the visiting students would be the first in their family to attend college. 96% of the school’s population identifies as Hispanic and 93% receive free/reduced lunches.
This is a massive college access event and we need your help to make it a success! We are looking for volunteers for the all or parts of the day, to help with everything from set up to guides who will illustrate what being in college is all about!
Schedule
9 - 9:30AM: Welcome Future Pioneers
9:45AM – 12:15PM: department sessions and lab demonstrations
12:25 - 1:10PM: lunch and chat with DU students, AND lunch for parents with Admission presentation
1:20 – 2PM: residence hall presentation/tour
2:10 – 2:30PM: closing and thanks
We are excited to bring students to our campus and empower them to go college, and possibly attend the University of Denver in the future! Thank you for your interest and support! At this point, we no longer require any additional volunteers. If you are passionate about this topic and would like information on further opportunities to volunteer, please email us at diversitysummit@du.edu
