The Anderson Academic Commons’ design and layout favors openness and natural light.

Visitors will enjoy an expanded space with ceilings of various heights, our light-welcoming centerpiece, the Hamilton Atrium, and windows that offer incredible views of the campus, city and Rocky Mountains.

WHAT CAN I DO?

MAIN LEVEL: STUDENT SUPPORT & EVENT SERVICES


    • Explore the layout via the entryway touchscreen monitor.

    • Borrow books from the lending desk.

    • Check out the latest magazines and newspapers.

    • Eat and sit at the Front Porch Café.

    • Cozy up near the fireplace.

    • Attend gatherings in the 3,000-square-foot Special Event Space.

    • Visit the Digital Media Center for editing and production support.

    • Find project and paper skills and strategies through the Crossley Research Center.




UPPER LEVEL: STUDY & PROJECT ZONE


    • Attend workshops in the The Loft, a window-walled space hanging between the Hamilton Atrium and the main level.

    • Book a group study room.

    • Enjoy the "Cone of Silence," an acoustically controlled sound and video space.

    • Read with your children in our kid-friendly Family Study Room on the lower level, near the collections.

    • Sit in our 1970s-era egg chairs.

    • Spread out your books and papers on a roomy table with its own set of electrical outlets for your phone, tablet or laptop.

    • Browse our DVD collection.

    • Reserve a card-access-only study carrel and locker for long-term projects.

    • Visit the Quinette Family Reading Room, featuring raised ceilings and handcrafted furniture and a fireplace.

    • Check out the Gottesfeld Room, great for large groups, with cabinet’s displaying artist’s books.

    • Swipe your faculty ID for access to the faculty-only reading room.

  • Lecturers within the Writing Program can enter the Writing Faculty Office Suite, and so can the students with appointments.

LOWER LEVEL: LIBRARY COLLECTIONS


    • Access books from the library’s moveable shelves.

    • Find a high-tech booth for studying with friends, to plug in your laptop to show your work on a large flat panel on the wall.

    • Review your selections in the Collection Review Reading Room.

    • Stay focused in the Quiet Study Room, encased in special acoustic glass allowing a silent view north across Evans Avenue.

    • Explore the library’s greatest treasures inside the Fogel Family Reading Room, home of our Special Collections and Archives.

  • Visit the Schayer Seminar Room with your class to review primary resource material found in the Special Collections and Archives.
