FACILITIES

The Department of Computer Science provides students with electronic mail, personal web space, and ample opportunity to experiment with open source and commercial web, database and programming technologies. Resources include a Sun Enterprise 250 server with dual UltraSparc/II processors and 2 GB of memory to house students' data and run simulations, a 20 seat student lab equipped with Sun Solaris workstations (and 3 PCs), a switched fast Ethernet network, a Linux-based PC research lab, and two 48 seat smart classrooms. Additionally, University Technology Services maintains university-wide web and email services, a Gigabit Ethernet campus backbone, wireless access to key areas of campus, a 15 MB/sec Internet link, virtual private network (VPN) access and a bank of about 200 modems providing off-campus access to the DU network.
