CTIR, University College, and the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) share the belief that education for working adults should be immediately applicable, up-to-date, and guided by the industry it serves.

With that in mind, two Masters programs are available.  We hope you will find the one that is right for you.

Masters in Global Studies

This mid-career degree program provides a Masters Degree in Global Studies to individuals who have already distinguished themselves in their professions.  Degree candidates include junior level diplomats, military personnel, and educators.

Students design an individualized course of study and complete a substantial research project that has curricular applications in the classroom.

Through the generosity of the Donnell-Kay Foundation, DU is able to offer 75% tuition scholarships for public school teachers in Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson counties.  Applicants must have 5 years of professional teaching experience and a commitment to remain in the profession.

Participants also have full access to all university facilities, including computer labs, Penrose Library and the Ritchie Center for Sports and Wellness.

Come for an informational interview and observe a class, meet faculty and students, and talk with an admissions officer.

Master of Liberal Studies

This joint degree is especially designed for professional educators who want to increase their knowledge and ability to teach about the world.

Both CTIR and University College conveniently schedule classes during evening hours and on weekends.  Most University College classes meet one night a week for five weeks.  There are also some ten-week courses held each quarter.  CTIR courses are often held on Saturdays during the school year and at various times during the summer months.

No entrance exams are required for admission to University College.  Students can enter the program during any quarter and take up to 10 credit hours before submitting an application for admission.  Degree candidates have 5 years in which to complete all requirements.
