Past Challenges

The World Affairs Challenge was created in 1990 at the Center for Community Enrichment at the University of Denver's Graduate School of International Studies in an effort to encourage middle school and high school students to explore global issues with their complex interaction of history, economics, politics, language, and culture.

Since 1991, thousands of students, teachers, and community members have participated and experienced the Challenge's interdisciplinary and novel approach to exploring global questions. Some of the images, comments, press reports, and materials from previous Challenges can be found here. Look over our proud past and you will begin to understand why the program continues to grow in Colorado and is expanding nationally to other states.
