The Center for World Languages and Cultures offers foreign language proficiency exams to graduate students who want to meet a foreign language requirement for their program.
The CWLC offers three testing dates during the fall, winter and spring quarters. Registration for each test closes 72 hours before the test. Registration and test dates for both the STAMP4S and Translation & Reading test can be found below. The cost is $50 per test, payable by exact change or check only.
*Please note that no tests are offered during academic breaks or during summer.
Winter quarter testing dates:
- Friday, January 27, 2017: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm
- Thursday, February 9, 2017: 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
- Friday, February 24, 2017: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm (Register by February 21)
Spring quarter testing dates:
- Tuesday, April 18, 2017: 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm (Register by April 15)
- Friday, May 5, 2017: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm (Register by May 2)
- Friday, May 19, 2017: 8:00 am - 12:00 pm (Register by May 16)
Testing for IMBA, IIC, and Korbel Students
The Center for World Languages and Cultures offers the STAMP4S language proficiency exams for students in the International Masters of Business Administration and International and Intercultural Communication programs and the Korbel School of International Studies. Passing this exam is one of the ways in which students may meet the foreign language proficiency requirement for their degree(s).
The STAMP4S test is a computer-based assessment that measures reading, writing, listening and speaking skills. The scoring system for this test is based off national norms for foreign language proficiency and is widely recognized. The STAMP4S test is available in Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Spanish and Hebrew(by special request only).

Testing for all other Programs (Art History, Anthropology, Iliff/Religious Studies, English, Geography)
Testing for these programs is a written exam designed for social sciences or humanities. This is a Translation and Reading test only.
