A Letter from the Director: Welcome to the University Disability Services website! Unlike many other higher education institutions, the University of Denver has two programs that provide support for students with disabilities. The Disability Services Program (DSP) is a no-cost program that facilitates delivery of basic accommodations to undergraduate to law students with documented disabilities. The Learning Effectiveness Program (LEP) is a fee-for-service academic support program for students with disabilities. The LEP serves primarily undergraduate students who are diagnosed with learning disabilities (LD) and ADHD at DU. However that does not preclude other students with disabilities who wish to enroll in the LEP to do so. These two programs exist under the administrative umbrella of University Disability Services (UDS). Our website serves the purpose of:
The staff of DSP and LEP is committed to providing students with the information and support to be successful at the University. The appropriate accommodations afforded to students with disabilities at DU are designed to create an equitable educational environment. All students at DU, regardless of label are afforded the same opportunities for academic and occupational success. The LEP is a comprehensive program that provides academic support services beyond basic academic accommodations to students enrolled in the program. Students with learning disabilities and ADHD do not have to enroll in the LEP to receive academic accommodations at the University of Denver. If you have questions, please contact us. Sincerely,
In summary: Learning Effectiveness Program (LEP): LEP is a fee-for-service program offering comprehensive, individualized services to University of Denver students with learning disabilities and/or ADHD. These services include one-on-one academic counseling, tutoring, and organizational and study strategy specialists. The program is designed to support each student's academic experience and success. Disability Services Program (DSP): DSP provides reasonable accommodations as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act to students with documented disabilities. Accommodations afford students equal opportunity to participate in the University's programs, courses, and activities. |
