Information about Seasonal Flu

Flu circulates in the United States every year, although the exact time, severity, and types of influenza virus vary from year to year. Last year the 2009 H1N1 virus caused the first global flu pandemic in 40 years, and the flu season began early in the U.S. Flu activity usually begins in November, peaks in January or February, and may continue until May. It is likely that the 2009 H1N1 virus will continue to circulate this year, so it was included in the 3 viruses which are covered by this year's flu vaccination, which is given as one injection. In order to do everything possible to promote the health and minimize the effect of flu on our students, faculty, and staff, everyone is encouraged to be vaccinated for flu as soon as possible. Flu vaccinations are free for all DU students. We also recommend preventive measures such as hand washing, cough etiquette, and self-isolation of those who are ill.
