Alcohol EDU for College
Welcome New Pioneers!
The University of Denver is deeply committed to the health, safety, and wellbeing of all of its students. In support of that commitment, the faculty and staff want to provide you with the tools necessary to achieve success both inside and outside of the classroom.
It is no surprise that alcohol is a significant issue in the lives of young adults and college students across the nation. National reports reveal troubling data about the number of college students who die from alcohol poisoning or who are injured while under the influence. Whether or not you abstain from alcohol, it is important for you to make informed decisions about the use of alcohol as you progress in your college career.
The University of Denver has joined together with many top schools across the country in adopting AlcoholEdu for College as a component of our alcohol education initiative. This engaging, interactive, online program is designed to give you the information you need to make thoughtful and educated decisions about the use of alcohol.
The University of Denver requires every new incoming student to complete the “AlcoholEdu for College” online course before Discoveries Orientation.
- You may access the course beginning August 1st.
- You will need to complete Part 1 no later than August 31. Be aware that this online course will take between 2-3 hours.
- Approximately 45 days later, you will receive an automated email asking you to complete the course. At this time, you will need to log in again to complete Part 2 (approximately 15 minutes).
- NOTE: You must complete both parts to fulfill this University requirement.
To take the course, you will need a computer with Internet access and audio capabilities since it will not display correctly on a smart phone or tablet.
Please note that the course includes three self-report surveys that offer you feedback on your alcohol-related attitudes and behaviors. All survey responses are strictly confidential and no University official will receive information about your response. The healthcare professionals at the Health and Counseling Center will only receive information about who hasn’t completed the course as well as aggregate data on the entire student body.
No University official will ever see any individual student's responses.
