Health & Counseling Fee
The HCF covers many services provided at the HCC; please view the chart below for a detailed description of coverage benefits. All students enrolled for six or more (8 for law students) hours of graded credit in a traditional program are automatically charged for the Health & Counseling Fee (HCF) each term. Students enrolled for fewer than six hours of credit must contact the HCC to enroll since the HCF is not automatically assessed on their tuition bill.

- Discounted in-house medications
- Discounted laboratory procedures
Undergraduate Students
The HCF is a mandatory fee that cannot be waved.
Graduate Students
You may either accept or waive the HCF, but we strongly urge you to consider its many benefits before waiving, especially if you are enrolling in the SHIP. The SHIP requires that the DU HCC be your primary care provider. Without the HCF, there will be office visit charges for all of your primary care visits and they will be reimbursed at lower rates. If you carry the SHIP and the HCF, most services will be covered (see chart below). If you choose to waive the HCF, you must complete and submit a waiver form on-line during the waiver period, which is 3 Fridays after the first day of class each term. A waiver form must be completed each time the HCF is assessed on your tuition bill each term. To waive the HCF, go to Waiver on myWeb.
