Conference Reimbursements
|
Joint Ph.D. students who present a paper or attend a conference related to their academic program are eligible to receive partial funding from the Joint PhD Student Council and from DU's Graduate Student Professional Development Grant (GSPDG). All application forms for reimbursement must be accompanied by suitable documentation and original receipts. Students may apply for funds from both the Joint PhD Student Council and from GSPDG (if eligible), but combined reimbursement cannot exceed the actual cost incurred by the student.
Reimbursements are available on a first-come, first-served basis until annual funds are depleted. There is no guarantee that all requests will be met and amounts are subject to change without notice.
The Joint PhD Student Council will reimburse up to $100 of eligible expenses for attending a conference and up to $150 of eligible expenses for presenting at a conference ($300 if presenting outside of North America). There is no distinction in reimbursement rates for national or regional conferences. Reimbursements are generally limited to two requests per student per academic year. Additional requests may be considered if funds are available at the end of the academic year. If you are requesting reimbursement only from the Joint PhD Student Council, and not from the GSPDG, you may use the form which can be found here and is significantly simpler than the GSPDG form (see below).
To be considered for GSPDG reimbursement, you must be presenting at a conference or conducting dissertation research. Reimbursements are not available from GSPDG for attending conferences. If you would like to request reimbursement from GSPDG and the Joint PhD Student Council, please fill out the common application from found on the DU Portfolio Community at https://portfolio.du.edu/pc/index. (Note that funding from the Student Council is a requirement for receiving reimbursement from the GSPDG.) You will be required to enter your DU ID number and Passcode. Under "Search for a Community," search for "GSPDG." Click on "Graduate Student Professional Development Grant (GSPDG)." The home page includes the application and detailed information, which is visible by everyone in the DU community. If you have any questions about the GSPDG, please contact Paula Bickel at paula.bickel@du.edu.
Submit the completed common application form along with ORIGINAL receipts and all supplemental materials to the mailbox labeled "Joint PhD Student Council" in the Iliff mailroom, and then e-mail the Student Council Treasurer (Gil Rosenberg, grosenberg@iliff.edu) to let him know your materials are there.
