Admission

All Morgridge College of Education (MCE) program applicants must complete the online application. Please refer to the application codes spreadsheet when selecting the major and concentration of the program you are applying to online. Application deadlines and program admissions requirements vary by program and are listed here. International applicants please see below for more information on the international admissions requirements needed in addition to your Morgridge College of Education application.

Many programs require applicants to include supplemental materials as part of a complete application packet. Please refer to the program specific materials listed at the bottom of the page.

Application fee

There is a $60 non refundable application fee, which covers the cost of processing application materials. The application fee may be paid with a credit card (applies to online applications only), but only at time of submission.

You cannot return to your online application after you have submitted it to pay the fee. The application fee may also be paid on a bank draft or personal check drawn on a U.S. bank. Applications will not be forwarded to the department for review until this fee is paid. No waivers or deferrals are allowed. Mail application fee to the Office of Graduate Admission.

McNair Scholars: The application fee is waived for McNair Scholars. To waive this fee, please submit proof of your status as a McNair Scholar to the Office of Graduate Admissions.

Examination requirements

  • GRE General Test

    GRE test is not required for the following programs:

    o       Buell Early Childhood Leadership Program (BECLP)

    o       Higher Education Leadership & Organizational Change

    o       Library and Information Science

    o       Principal Licensure (WSEPP)

    o       Master's degree in Educational Administration 

  • MAT (Miller Analogies Test) This test is an option for Curriculum and Instruction applicants as well as TEP/CLAMP applicants.

  • PLACE (Program for Licensing Assessments for Colorado Educators. This test is an option for Boettcher and TEP/CLAMP applicants.
  • Praxis II This test is an option for Boettcher and TEP/CLAMP applicants.
  • TOEFL or IELTS (In addition to other tests required by your program the TOEFL or IELTS is required for international applicants who do not have a degree from an accredited English-speaking university).

      TOEFL
      Paper-based - 550
      Computer-based - 213
      Internet based - 80
      IELTS - 7.0
  • All international students applying for a teaching assistantship must score 26 or higher on the TOEFL iBT speaking subsection, or 50 on the Test of Spoken English.

Letters of recommendation

Three (3) letters required. Please print off the recommendation form and either fill out by hand or attach to a letter addressing each of the components.

Official sealed transcripts

Two (2) copies from all institutions where 2 or more credit hours (1.5 or more semester credit hours) were completed. 

Statement of goals & intent

In an essay, explain your reasons for pursuing graduate study in the Morgridge College of Education. You should include:

  1. Your personal, educational, and employment experiences that have shaped your desire for advanced study.
  2. A statement of your professional objectives and how you arrived at them.
  3. An explanation of what you hope to obtain from your chosen concentration and how you intend to apply it professionally.
  4. Your statement should be approximately 2-3 pages, typed and double-spaced.

Submit a copy of your resume. 

Financial assistance

To be considered for any financial aid from the Morgridge College of Education, US Citizens and Legal Aliens must have a FAFSA on file with the University of Denver.FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) Web site.

International students who are not eligible to complete a FAFSA, must complete the following application and submit it to the Morgridge College of Education.
