How to Apply for Financial Aid

STEP 1: Apply for admission to the Morgridge College of Education.

We cannot consider you for financial aid until you are officially admitted to the University. Please submit your application as soon as possible.

STEP 2: Apply for a U.S. Department of Education PIN.

STEP 3: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov.

New forms become available January 1 each year. You will need your PIN from Step 2 above. The school code for the University of Denver is 001371. Keep in mind that you may need to estimate your income and taxes from the previous year. Complete this form, even if you believe you are ineligible, for federal aid because the Morgridge College of Education and the University require this information in awarding state and institutional need-based aid, as well as many scholarships.

STEP 4: You should receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) three to six weeks after submitting your FAFSA.

If you have applied for a PIN, you can view the SAR online through the FAFSA website. Review your SAR for accuracy and make any necessary corrections.

STEP 5: Accept your financial aid award.

The Office of Financial Aid will use the information on your FAFSA to determine your eligibility for financial assistance. Once this process is complete, you will be notified via e-mail that you can view your award online. Accept or decline the awards offered to you through the Web site. You may be selected for verification of the information reported on the FAFSA by the Department of Education. Your SAR will indicate you have been selected. The Office of Financial Aid will contact you by e-mail to notify you of the additional information needed. If selected, additional documentation is required to be turned into the University before determining your aid eligibility and disbursing any funds.

STEP 6: Plan ahead and think long-term.
