A message from the former Dean:
Hello, I'm Virginia Maloney, dean of the University of Denver's Morgridge College of Education. Welcome to our Web site. We appreciate your interest in Morgridge and hope that you'll find this Web site helpful as you learn more about our programs and faculty.
The University of Denver has a long standing reputation for excellence, innovation, and engagement with the Denver community. Founded in 1864, our University is recognized as the premier private university in the Rocky Mountain West. Our history is intertwined with the history of Denver and Colorado, and DU has prepared many of the nation's leaders in education, business, law, social work, and psychology over the last century. Our graduates now can be found in prominent positions throughout the country and the world, providing leadership and high quality professional services.
At Morgridge, we continue to be committed to community engagement--linking our programs and students to real world, diverse settings where our students can learn to put theory into practice and contribute to the solution of pressing community problems.
Whether you are seeking a professional credential in education, library and information science, or counseling or school psychology, if you come to DU's Morgridge College of Education you can count on having high quality learning experiences in your coursework and internship placements.
You'll have the opportunity to meet and work closely with an interesting and diverse group of fellow students, as well as nationally renowned faculty. Our classes are small enough so that you will really get to know your faculty members and the other students learning with you. Our faculty regularly engage students in challenging and relevant research projects.
Your experience at Morgridge will empower you to forge positive change in education. We are committed to preparing you to think creatively and lead effectively in an array of professional environments. You will have the opportunity to discuss, research, and address relevant educational issues as you work with your professors and peers.
At Morgridge we are focused on learning--your learning as a student here, the ongoing learning of our faculty as they conduct research, and the learning of the individuals and groups with whom who will work in the future. We provide programs that are convenient for working adults to attend, with evening and weekend schedules, but we maintain rigorous academic standards.
You can expect to be challenged intellectually and personally, because we will ask you to grow and develop as both a student and as an ethical, caring, and responsible professional. A graduate certificate or degree from DU's Morgridge College of Education is a nationally respected credential that you can be proud of as you launch your career--or continue to develop as a professional.
Choosing a graduate school is one of the most important decisions you'll make. I invite you to take some time to review this Web site to learn about our many program offerings.
