DU and Denver Botanic Gardens bring renowned author Richard Louv to campus Sept. 30th
University of Denver will host Richard Louv, author of "Last Child in the Woods: Saving
Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder" at DU's Davis Auditorium in Sturm Hall
on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 7 pm. This lecture is part of a partnership with Denver
Botanic Gardens, which is intended to increase awareness of the importance of nature
and outside activity in the growth and development of children.
Louv believes today's youth suffer from what he calls "nature deficit disorder." In
his presentation, he will reflect on the international movement concerning the future
relationship between children, nature and the importance of the outdoors.
In addition to his writing, Louv is chair of The Children & Nature Network, a nonprofit organization helping build the movement to reconnect children and nature.
Louv speaks frequently around the country and has appeared on the "CBS Evening News",
ABC's "Good Morning America", the "NBC Nightly News", the "PBS NewsHour with Jim Lehrer",
and many other programs.
This lecture at DU is free to the public, however registration is required: online
at www.universitycollege.du.edu (see Upcoming Events) or call Denver Botanic Gardens at 720-865-3506.
