Aesthetic Education Institute of Colorado
The Aesthetic Education Institute of Colorado (AEIC) is one of few premier workshops in the country designed to prepare educators to embrace an arts-oriented approach to classroom teaching and K-12 school reform. The goals of the Institute are to have participants awaken their inner artistic sensibilities, and to think about education from aesthetic and arts-oriented approaches.
The Institute takes place in seven days with courses taught largely by local artists in five art disciplines (generally dance, theatre, visual arts, music, and creative writing). Also, there is time for additional play and work in aesthetics, educational theory and practice, networking, lesson planning, and assessment.
Whether you are a teacher, administrator or interested community member, AEIC offers life transforming experiences that will change the way you think about the arts, education and the role of education in society.
AEIC is held in Denver, generally the last two weeks of June. It is sponsored by the Morgridge College of Education and Think 360 Arts Complete Education (www.think360arts.org).
