Higher Education Master of Arts (MA)
The Higher Education Master of Arts Program is designed to prepare students for entry- and mid-level academic administrative positions working directly with both traditional students and adult learners. If you're interested in working in student-related settings such as residence, student activities, or athletics, this degree offers you the opportunity to study a variety of subjects focused in three unique concentrations:
Diversity and Higher Learning - Are you interested in teaching in a wide range of postsecondary settings, including adult and mulitcultural programs, training and development in business, government, and not-for-profit organizations? Students in the Diversity and Higher Learning concentration investigate the current condition of higher education administration, curriculum, history, finance and public policy as related to diversity and learning.
Leadership and Organizational Change for Professionals (LOCP) - Are you an administrative professional with five or more years experience in supervisory roles in higher education (or ten or more years of work experience in a different field) and would like to take your professional life to another level? If so, this may be the program for you. This is one of the nation's few master's degree concentrations in leadership and organizational change for current professionals (LOCP). Designed for those who enjoy working in a college or university setting, this concentration holds classes during evenings and on Saturday to allow you to continue your work experience during the week while completing your degree.
College Student Development (CSD) - As a student in this concentration, you will be required to have "hands-on" experience in student affairs. Courses and practica/internship in the CSD concentration are aligned with the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) standards and your advisor will assist you in finding the perfect fit for your experience. When you graduate, you will have already gained real-world experience working with undergraduate students.
