Educational Leadership and Policy Studies Doctoral Programs
The Doctor of Education (EdD) in Educational Leadership builds on your prior leadership preparation and Master's degree with two years of coursework plus one year of supervised applied research. Content and research courses are designed to work together, to prepare you to design, conduct, and use applied research for evidence-driven practice and policy leadership. Courses are organized in a cohort format so that you will get to know a cadre of fellow educational leaders and support each other through the coursework and your research.
In the recently updated Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Educational Leadership program, students complete two years of foundational coursework to ensure a strong grounding in applied research, policy, and the leadership of educational organizations. During the third year, students work with an advisor to design a program of 25 credit hours of courses in advanced research preparation and a cognate area. Students then complete and defend a dissertation. Up to 10 credits completed in one of the Educational Leadership certificate programs may, under certain circumstances, be applied toward the PhD.
The Administrator/Superintendent's endorsement is an option available to all Educational Leadership doctoral students. Upon successful completion of the required coursework and 300 contact-hour internship, students will be eligible for recommendation to the Colorado Department of Education for the Superintendent's endorsement.
