What can our schools do today to promote human rights and to combat violence? Learn
about bringing human rights advocacy, global perspectives, and world-wide views into
the lives of children. Philosophies of humans rights education, education for
peace-building, and promising practices for teaching about human rights and conflict
resolution while combating homophobia and discrimination are discussed.
HED 3263 Sports and Higher Education (4)
In this foundations course, you will be introduced to the history of college and university
sports, athletics, and wellness programs. You will learn about current and future
issues related to intercollegiate sports, including student athlete support systems,
ethical considerations, legal issues, and the politics and policies of institutional
and NCAA norms/regulations.
HED 3264 Psychosocial Dimensions of Sports and Wellness (4)
This course examines the psychological and sociological aspects of sports as they
relate to college and university athletics, recreation, and wellness. Upon successful
completion of this course, you will understand and be able to articulate the major
issues related to sports in society and how those relate to the way people behave.

This course focuses on the scope of the administration and leadership for a collegiate
athletics and recreation department. You will be led in your study of the wide range
of responsibilities included under the sports administration umbrella, ranging from
everything from facilities operations to student athlete recruitment and retention,
to NCAA compliance and community relations

This is an excellent introduction to pre-kindergarten through high school learning
environments. If you ever thought you might want to teach, this course will provide
an excellent overview of different types of schools (both public and private) as well
as the different learning environments across the plethora of schools.

This course will provide an introduction to the profession of counseling. Learn more

CUI 3803 Psychology of Teachers and Teaching (3)

how to be an effective instructor and gain an understanding of the psychology of teaching.

Objectives of this course include: viewing education in the 21st century as cross-cultural
and international; examining the role of schooling in shaping national identity and
citizenship in nation-states around the globe; and identifying promising practices
and exemplary curriculum material for teaching cross-cultural perspectives and world

CUI 3990 Service Learning in the Community (2)
Service Learning is an educational approach that promotes life long learning and social
engagement. Service Learning involves students in organized community service in many
different areas. This Course provides the opportunity for students to do community
service and to reflect on their service experience in a classroom setting and in non-real
time chat room.
LIS 3800 Educational and Information Technologies (3)
Introduction to information technologies for personal, scholarly, and professional
use. Provides extensive hands-on experience in the efficient and effective use of
personal and networked computers and operating systems, introduces networks and networking
concepts, and provides an overview of generic and specialized software applications.
Focus will be on the use of information in educational settings.
