Academic Approval Process
Faculty proposing a service learning course, or revising a course to include service learning, should consult with the Director of the Center for Community Engagement & Service Learning (CCESL), Eric Fretz. Eric can be reached at ext. 1-4921, or Eric.Fretz@du.edu. The Faculty Service Learning Committee is also available for consultation during the development or approval process for any course.
Faculty may choose to offer service learning as a requirement for all students in a course or may offer the service learning component as an option within a course. When service learning is optional, the service learning component replaces another assignment in the course.
In addition, funding is available through the Faculty Development Service Learning Fund, for faculty who wish to incorporate service learning into their curriculum.
