(1 )Service learning is fully integrated into the academic
content of the course.
(2) Academic credit is awarded for academic work that integrates
the service-learning experience.
(3) Service-learning projects are designed to serve the
public good by providing needed and desired service to the community.
(4) Course requirements include opportunities for students
to reflect and write about the relationship between the content of the course
and the service learning experience.
(5) At the end of the course, students assess the role of community service in both enriching the academic experience and increasing their commitment to civic engagement.
