Service-Learning Scholars Program
The Service-Learning Faculty Scholars Program is designed to increase community based learning capacity on campus by giving faculty an opportunity to examine recent scholarship in the field and develop a set of best practices for implementing service learning classes and projects. Participants receive an $1800 stipend, meet as a group 6 times over the course of the academic year and are required to develop a service learning syllabus at the end of the program.

Service-Learning Pods (New!)
Service-Learning Pods are small groups of faculty members working together on community based issues that matter to them. Current Pods include groups of faculty working on issues of sustainability, local culture and including students in community-based initiatives. Pods are designed and created by DU faculty members, and they receive strong support from CCESL staff as well as financial support from the faculty development fund.

Community-Based Learning Writing Group (New!)
Beginning in the fall of 2008, CCESL will sponsor a writing group for DU faculty interested in writing about their community based or service-learning work. The group will meet 5-7 times over the academic year, and use meeting times to review drafts of participant papers and well as brainstorm to generate possible writing topics. Participants receive a $500 stipend.

Mini-Grants
Service-learning mini-grants are available to faculty looking to: travel to conferences, purchase books, journals and print material related to community-based learning; host workshops, recognitions, community partner dialogues; purchase equipment needed for service-learning courses and projects; create assessment models and evaluation practices of CBL courses; find student assistance with CBL classes.

Research and Scholarship (see Public Good Funds)
The University of Denver supports community-based research projects through the Public Good Fund. Public Good research involves the production of new knowledge that results from the convergence of academic inquiry and local ways of knowing. The primary goals of public good scholarship include the renewal of democracy and the kind of public action that addresses social change and social justice issues.
