DU Faculty and Staff Event Planning Guide
Frequently Asked Questions
Who do I contact to book a room or venue on campus?
Due to class schedules and academic activities, each building and/or venue on campus has a different scheduler or Building Representative. Please refer to the Building Representative and Room Directory for a list of contacts and venues.
Who can plan a meeting or event for my unit?
If the event is on campus, all steps of the event planning process outlined in this guide must be handled by a DU faculty or staff member. This is particularly important when an internal event involves participation from an external (non-DU) organization. In this case, it is the sponsoring (internal) unit's responsibility to fulfill Steps 1-9 of the event planning process.
I am a DU student — how do I book a room or plan my event on campus?
Different procedures apply for student organizations planning events on campus. For more information on these procedures and to book any rooms on campus, students must contact Deborah Bain at X14231 or email@example.com.
What fees should I be aware of when planning an event?
In general, you should be prepared to pay fees for:
Sometimes some fees do not apply, but this depends on the specific needs of each event.
Can I have alcohol at my event?
Yes, but alcohol must be served by a licensed bartender who works for the approved caterer for the event or venue. For more information, refer to Step 6 of this guide.
I am not a DU employee, faculty member, or student and would like to plan an event on campus.
