Museum of Anthropology

The Museum of Anthropology looks at art in terms of the cultures that created it.

Specializing in the American Southwest, the museum is full of Native American artifacts. But traveling exhibits—like the recent Art Without Borders: Art from Zambia's Western Provence—feature ceramics, basketry, textiles and tools from all over the world.

The museum also puts students in command. Students often create their own exhibits drawing upon objects from the museum's collections. They incorporate pictures and write text to tie the pieces together and tell an anthropological story. Reflecting the diverse interests of the students themselves, the exhibits span everything from "Modern Homemaker: Exploring an American Identity Through Cookbooks" to "Ways of Seeing: Multiple Perspectives on the Material World."

The Museum of Anthropology is free and open all day during the week.
