Proposed Senate Election Schedule and Procedures

After a review of the terms of current members et al., the Nominations, Credentials, and Rules Committee has determined that elections will have to be held to fill the following positions:

  1. Positions to be filled
    1. Executive Committee
      1. Secretary for 2100-2001
      2. One At Large Position (both Carol Nappholz's and Barbara Wilcot's terms are up, but Carol's was a special appointment that does not have to be filled).
    2. Board FEAC Representative
      1. Jack Donnelly's term is up.
    3. Faculty Senate
      1. One At large position needs to be filled (Susan Sadler's term is also up, but she will stay on in one of the At Large positions; Deborah Grealy's term is also up). This position is voted on by the full DU faculty.
      2. Editor of the Faculty Forum /Newsletter position (See if Joseph Kraus is willing to serve again).
  1. Schedule for the election process:

March 10, 2000    NCR Meeting:

  1. Review Election Forms and Brainstorm Names

Senate Meeting

  1. Make Report to Senate on Election.
  2. Solicit names from entire faculty for at large position(s) and Faculty Athletic Committee position (Due to Charmayne Shockley no later than April 3).
  3. Solicit names from various units for Senate representation (Due to Charmayne Shockley no later than April 3)

May 5, 2000      NCR Meeting

  1. Work out names of future committees
  2. Finalize candidates for all positions
  3. Tabulate ballots for At Large Senate slot(s), Faculty Athletic Committee slot, and Senate Representatives for various units.

Senate Meeting

  1. Report new At Large Senator(s), Faculty Athletic Committee Representative, and Senate Representatives for various units.
  2. Review committee preference forms and give committee preference forms to new senators (Charmayne will distribute via email).

May 19, 2000         NCR Meeting

  1. Finalize committee assignments

Senate Meeting

  1. Senate elects Secretary, at large Executive Committee member, FEAC representative and Chairperson of Faculty Forum/Newsletter.
  2. Committees meet to elect chairpersons.
