Faculty Forum

By and for the Faculty of the University of Denver

Vol. XIII No. 1, March 1999

Motion Passed on Inappropriate Requests

During the January 15, 1999 Faculty Senate meeting, the Staff Advisory Council guest speakers asked for a new resolution. They wanted the Faculty Senate to express support for the role of support staff in the university and to discourage faculty and administrators from requiring staff to perform inappropriate, non-job related duties. Following a discussion on the issue, the Faculty Senate passed this resolution on February 12, 1999.

The Faculty Senate urges faculty, administrators, and others with supervisory roles to remember that it is inappropriate to ask those whom you supervise to perform tasks that are not related to their university functions and that might appear to be personal favors.

Financial Report on the University

Winter Quarter 1999

Two financial reports are routinely provided to the University community through the Faculty Senate. The Senate Financial Planning Committee works with the Vice Chancellor for Business and Financial Affairs and the Associate Provost for Budget and Planning for securing these reports. The Financial Report on the University was prepared by Vice Chancellor Craig Woody. An enrollment report has also been prepared. This report highlights the operating results of the previous fiscal year (FY98) and compares enrollment figures from budgeted enrollments to those realized in the current budget year. The spring report, prepared by Associate Provost Janet Allis, will provide details of the budget for the coming fiscal year.

In keeping with the policy of the University of Denver, and of the Faculty Senate, it has been decided that the full text of this issue of the Faculty Forum will not be made available outside the DU community. Copies of the financial and enrollment reports may be obtained through the Penrose Library, and from the Faculty Senate Offices.
