Skiing Pioneers arrive in Sochi for 2014 Winter Olympics
(Feb. 18, 2014) University of Denver junior Trevor Philp and freshman Sebastian Brigovic, as well as former Pioneer Leif Kristian Haugen are set to compete in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia this week. All three athletes are slated to race giant slalom on Thursday, Feb. 19 at 12 a.m. MT, followed by slalom on Saturday, Feb. 22 at 5:45 a.m. MT.
Pioneer Olympians carry on a DU tradition at Sochi
(Feb. 4, 2014) More than 40 current and former Pioneers have represented the University of Denver as either athletes or coaches at the Olympics dating back to the 1948 Winter Games in St. Moritz, Switzerland—and that's just in alpine skiing. Add in the other world-class competitors from both the summer and winter games, and that number becomes even more impressive.
