Whether you're a Kaiser member or not, your DU Digest will share health tips each month. May is Cancer Prevention Month. Follow these tips to protect yourself:

  • The sun is strongest between 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.; stay in the shade and be sure to wear sunscreen whenever you're outdoors.
  • Avoid toxins, like those found in paints and pesticides.
  • Eat more vegetables and limit red meat to help reduce your chances of getting colon cancer.
  • Quit smoking to lower your likelihood of developing cancer of the mouth, throat and esophagus.
  • Drink alcohol in moderation – one drink a day for women and two for men.
  • Get regular checkups and screenings!
