Federal ACG and National SMART Grants

The Federal Academic Competitiveness Grant (ACG) and the National Science and Mathematics Access to Retain Talent Grant (SMART) are awarded to undergraduate students with high financial need who meet the requirements set forth by the Department of Education.

ACG recipients are those students who are:

* U.S. citizens
* Eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
* Enrolled full-time

and who completed a rigorous program of study in high school. First-year recipients must have graduated from high school after January 1st of the preceding year. Second-year recipients must have graduated from high school after January 1st two years prior, and they must have a cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 or greater.

First-year ACG awards are up to $750
Second-year ACG awards are up to $1300

National SMART recipients are those students who are:

* U.S. citizens
* Eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
* Enrolled full-time

and who are third- or fourth-year students in an eligible baccalaureate degree program, to include the areas of computer science, engineering, foreign language, life sciences, mathematics, physical sciences, and technology. The students must have a CGPA of 3.0 or greater.

Third- and fourth-year SMART awards are up to $4000 each year.

Note: For both ACG and SMART, aid year eligibility is determined by actual year in school and not by grade level.
