College Opportunity Fund (COF)

The University of Denver is one of a few private colleges/universities in Colorado whose students may be eligible to receive the College Opportunity Fund (COF.) The purpose of COF is to help students pay the ever increasing tuition costs of higher education. Undergraduates (graduates do not qualify) may apply, including new, transfer, and returning students. Eligible students must meet the following criteria:

*Be a resident of Colorado
*Have graduated from a Colorado high school
*Be eligible for the Federal Pell Grant, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
*Be enrolled in the traditional undergraduate program or The Women's College; students enrolled in a degree completion program are not eligible

Students must initially complete the Stipend Application at https://cofweb.cslp.org/cofapp and University of Denver's Colorado Residency form on the Registrar's website to apply for funds. EVERY QUARTER students must authorize on myWeb which classes they would like to be considered for COF funding. The school will send a list of eligible students to the state agency which will be matched with a list of students who have applied. Students on both lists will receive the fund for that particular quarter.

COF is considered a grant for students attending private institutions such as University of Denver; therefore, it may replace a portion of other need-based aid or merit-based tuition awards. The amount of the fund is 50% of the stipend amount received at a state institution, and it will credit tuition charges on your bill.

COF caps a student's eligibility for tuition reimbursement at 145 semester hours. As University of Denver is on the quarter system, quarter hours will be translated to semester hours prior to award approval. A proportional number of credits will be subtracted from the lifetime limit for sophomores, juniors, and seniors.

More information about the fund is available on the COF website at https://cofweb.cslp.org/cofapp under "What is COF?" and "FAQs."
