Colorado Residents

Big O Tires of Western Colorado Scholarship

For graduating high school seniors with a permanent address in Western Colorado that are determined to be of good character, high aims and industrious habits.  Awards based on financial need, educational achievement and goals.  See your local Big O Tires for an application.  Apply by April 15th.

The Charter Fund

Provided to high school seniors who are residents of Colorado and demonstrate financial need. Applicants may attend colleges anywhere in the United States but must be residents of Colorado. 

Colorado Educational Services and Development Association-Diversity Scholarship

Applicants must be high school seniors and first generation students, or member of an underrepresented ethnic or racial minority, and/or show financial need.  Must be Colorado residents with a min GPA of 2.8.

Education First Foundation Scholarship

For high school seniors who attend West and North High Schools and who demonstrate strong character, a commitment to learning, and a vision for their future.  Apply by January 4th. 

Greenhouse Scholars

For Colorado high school seniors with a min GPA of 3.5 who demonstrate financial need, community service, overcoming an obstacle, and leadership skills.  Apply by January 20th.

Puksta Scholars Program

For incoming freshmen who are Colorado residents (graduated from a Colorado high school). Min 3.0 GPA required. Students can apply after receiving their letter of acceptance from the University of Denver. Selection is based on financial need, academics, passion for a core issue area, and prior demonstration of outstanding service and commitment to the community. Early action deadline Feb 13th. Regular decision deadline April 10th.

Multicultural Scholarships

American Physical Society Minority Scholarship

For Black, Hispanic or Native American US Citizen or Permanent Resident who is majoring or planning to Major in Physics. Must be a high school senior, college freshman or sophomore.  The application requires a personal statement, transcript, and two letters of recommendation (one from a math or science teacher). The scholarship is renewable.  Applications available November, 2009

Colorado Educational Services and Development Association-Diversity Scholarship

Applicants must be high school seniors and first generation students, or member of an underrepresented ethnic or racial minority, and/or show financial need.  Must be Colorado residents with a min GPA of 2.8. Apply by March 1st.

National Association of Negro Business and Professional Women's Clubs

For African American high school seniors with a min GPA of 3.0.  Submit an essay on the topic:“Why Education is Important to Me".  Apply by March 1st.

National FFA Collegiate Scholarship Program

For high school seniors and undergraduates that are a minority FFA member pursuing a degree in agriculture and are part of one the following ethnic groups: African-Americans, Asian Americans or Pacific Islanders, Hispanics, Alaska Natives, or American Indians.  Apply by February 15th.

Ron Brown Scholars Program

The Ron Brown Scholar Program seeks to identify African-American high school seniors who will make significant contributions to society. Applicants must excel academically, exhibit exceptional leadership potential, participate in community service activities and demonstrate financial need. The applicant must be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa card. Current college students are not eligible to apply. Application deadlines 11/1/2009 and 1/9/2010

Ronald McDonald House Charities

Scholarships for high school seniors from communities who face limited access to educational opportunities.  Opportunities include: RMHC scholars for all students; RMHC/Asia for students with at least one parent of Asian-Pacific heritage; RMHC/African-American Future Achievers for students of African American or Black Caribbean heritage; and RMHC/HACER for students with at least one parent of Hispanic heritage. Note: Students may only apply for one scholarship. 

Please check website in the Fall of 2009 for the application for the 2009/2010 program. 

USA Funds Access to Education

For high-school seniors, currently enrolled college students or incoming college students. 50% of scholarships are for ethnic minority or individuals with physical disabilities. Applications will be posted to website October 1st.

General Scholarships

Abbott and Fenner Scholarship Program

Essay scholarship available to current undergraduate and high school junior or senior students (ages 16-30).  Answer the question: " What do you see as the long term impact of our current recession on the average family? How might it affect their future decisions?" Apply by June 19, 2010.

AES Engineers

Available to high school seniors or college students (regardless of courses being studied).  Students will need to answer one of the essay questions found on their web site.  Apply by October 6th, 2010.

Alert Magazine

Alert Magazine Drug/Alcohol Abuse Prevention Essay Contest Scholarship is available to high school seniors who have a minimum 2.5 GPA and plan to attend college after graduation. Apply before graduation of your senior year.

AH & LEF Hospitality Scholarships

For students who are enrolled in Hotel, Restaurant, Tourism Management. Also Culinary Arts. Apply by January 1- May 1, 2010.

Self Nominated Scholarships:

  • AH&LEF Incoming Freshman Scholarship- for incoming freshmen with a min. GPA of 2.0.  Preference given to LMP High School graduates.

American Meteorological Society (AMS) Freshman Undergraduate Scholarship

For all high school students.  Designed to encourage study in the atmospheric and related sciences. Criteria based on performance in high school, including academic records, recommendation, scores from a national college exam, and a written essay. This can be a two-year scholarship. Apply by February 5, 2010.

Army ROTC Scholarships

Scholarships pay:

  • 100% tuition and mandatory fees
  • A $900 per academic year book allowance
  • A tax-free stipend based on academic status ($300/month - freshman, $350/month - sophomore, $450/month -  junior, $500/month - senior)

Four and three year scholarships are available to high school students. Two and three year scholarships are available to college students.

B. Davis Scholarship

Available to graduate and undergraduate students, as well as high school juniors and seniors.  Write an essay addressing problems on college campuses or about challenges that high school students face.  Apply by May 28, 2010.

Best Buy @ 15 Scholarship Program

For high school students, grades 9-12, who demonstrate commitment to and involvement in volunteer community service or work experience, show solid academic performance, and participation or leadership in school activities.  Must have a min GPA of 2.5 and plan to enter a full-time undergraduate course in the fall following graduation. Applications available as of January 2010.

BigSun Scholarship

All student athletes are eligible regardless of the sport they are engaged in - including recreational sports. The student must be a high school senior or be attending a post secondary institute. Apply by June 24, 2010.

Billiard Education Foundation

The objective of the BEF Academic Scholarship Program is to grant scholarships to high school seniors who have benefited from the sport of billiards and are pursuing a college education. 

Burger King Scholars Program

To help graduating high school seniors build brighter futures.  Apply by February 2nd.

Coca-Cola Scholarships

For current high school seniors graduating from a school/program in the U.S. during the academic year in which application is made; must be a U.S. Citizen; U.S. National; U.S. Permanent Resident; Temporary Resident (legalization program); Refugee; Asylee; Cuban-Haitian Entrant; or Humanitarian Parolee; planning to pursue a degree at an accredited U.S. post-secondary institution; minimum GPA 3.0 at end of junior year. Applications accepted between August 1 and October 31.

CollegeSTEPS Scholarship Sweepstakes
Scholarship drawing for graduating high school seniors who are enrolled in the collegeSTEPS program. For any state resident, excluding New York, Florida, and Rhode Island.  Apply by May 31st, but sign up now to be included in earlier drawings.

Gen and Kelly Tanabe Scholarship Program

Available to high school students, current undergraduates, and graduate students.  Awards will be selected by the personal statement provided. Apply by December 31, 2009.

Green Chip Stocks

Essay based scholarship for part-time and full-time students as well as incoming freshmen. Write a compelling argument supporting the economic superiority of renewable energy integration.  Apply by December 31, 2009.

HENAAC Scholarships

 Apply by April 30th.

Hispanic Engineer National Achievement Awards Corporation

For college students or high school seniors with a min GPA of 3.0 and who are studying Science, Technology, Engineering or Math.  (Applicants do not have to be of Hispanic descent).

Horatio Alger Scholarship Program

Available to graduating high school students who have critical financial need, a min. GPA of 2.0, are involved in co-curricular activities, have overcome adversity and are dedicated to pursing a bachelor's degree.  Scholarships are specific for students from various states but can be used for any accredited institution.  Apply by October 30th, 2009.

National Wild Turkey Federation Scholarship

Available to high school seniors who support the preservation of the hunting tradition and actively participate in hunting sports. Minimum 3.0 GPA, be involved in school activities, and demonstrate community involvement and ability as a leader.  Apply by January 1st.

Padgett Business Services Scholarship

For high school seniors who are a dependent of a business owner who employs fewer than 20 people, owns at least 10% of the stock or capital in the business, and is active in the day-to-day operations of the business.  Apply by March 1st. 

Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association

Bill Martin Scholarship- For high school seniors planning to study a field related to the water environment profession.

Sallie Mae Fund

Unmet Need Scholarship-Open to families with a combined income of $30,000 or less - scholarships range from $1,000 to $3,800. 

First in My Family Scholarship - scholarships range from $500 - $5000

The Sallie Mae 9/11 Education Fund- Open to children of those who were killed or permanently disabled as a result of the terrorist attacks and who are enrolled as full-time undergraduate students.  Apply by May 15th. 

Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year (SAMMY Awards)

Awarded to 25 high school seniors based on academic performance, athletic excellence, leadership skills, and community service. Apply by March 10th.

Society of Exploration Geophysics

For high school seniors, undergraduates and graduate students intending to pursue a college curriculum directed toward a career in applied geophysics or physics, mathematics, and/or geology. Applications will be accepted September 1, 2010.

Toshiba Exploravision Competition

For high school students interested in science and invention.  Apply by January 29th.

Union Plus Scholarship

For high school seniors who are dependants of a member of a union participating in the Union Plus program.  Based on financial need, academic ability, community awareness, and appreciation of labor.  Apply by January 30, 2010.

US Bank Internet Scholarship Program

High school seniors selected at random to win a scholarship applied to 2009-2010 school year.  Applications available in the Fall. 

Project PAVE Transformations Scholarship

For graduating seniors or GED candidates (21years of age and younger) to pursue post-high school education. Recipients are chosen based on personal achievement and demonstration of resilience over an emotionally, physically, or sexually violent
experience.  Apply by February 10, 2010.
