Grants and Scholarships
Graduate departments award students grants and scholarships based on merit and/or need. This gift aid credits to your tuition account and usually requires full time attendance. Aside from departmental-specific awards, these awards are also given by graduate departments:
- Graduate Studies Doctoral Fellowship - student must:
- be a PhD student in an approved degree program
- be enrolled in 9 hours per term
Award amounts vary
- Colorado Graduate Grants (unavailable 2007-2008) - student must:
- be a graduate student enrolled in an approved degree program
- be a Colorado resident
- be enrolled at least half-time
- have an Expected Family Contribution (from the FAFSA) of $0 - $5775
Award amounts vary from $1000 to $5000
- DU Need-Based FFEL Grant (available 2007-2008) - student must:
- be a graduate students enrolled in an approved degree program
- be enrolled at least half-time
- have need as determined by the FAFSA
Award amounts vary, but may not exceed tuition
- Graduate Teaching and Research Assistantships (GTA/GRA) are merit awards designated by individual graduate school departments. GTA awards include tuition waivers credited directly to your tuition bill and stipends in the form of a salary. Eligibility requirements may be found in the Information for Students .pdf document. Students cannot have a workstudy position and a GTA position; they may have one or the other.
