Continuing Traditional UndergraduatesTypes of Aid: Scholarships for Colorado ResidentsThe Great Southwest Civitan Foundation award three scholarships to Junior, Senior, or Graduate students in Special Education who are also planning a career in teaching special education or working within the public school system. Students must have residency within the Great Southwest District (Colorado, New Mexico or El Paso County, Texas). Apply by May 1st. Applicants must be gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgendered, reside in Colorado and be accepted or enrolled in an accredited Colorado institution of higher education. The Applicant must also demonstrate financial need. Apply by April 15th. Participants must be at least 17 years of age and must be registered and currently attending an accredited high school in Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Wyoming, or Texas. Apply by June 10th. American Association of University Women Denver For women who are Colorado residents, currently enrolled in the DU Women's College, that have completed 30 credit hours by the end of Spring 2009, are enrolled at least half-time and working toward a certificate or degree, and have a minimum GPA of 2.75. Four and three year scholarships are available to high school students. Two and three year scholarships are available to college students. Available to residents of Nebraska, Kansas, Missouri, Iowa, South Dakota, Wyoming or Colorado who are attending an institution in one of those states. Minimum 2.0 GPA and response to essay questions, financial need may also be considered. Apply by March 15th. Aurora Branch of American Association of University Women Residents of Aurora, 3.0 GPA or higher, entering junior or senior year at a Colorado college, no age limit, open to men and women. Applications available in University Hall #255. Two $1000 awards. Essay, letters of rec, transcript required. Applications available in University Hall #210. Apply by April 18th. Big O Tires of Western Colorado Scholarship For graduating high school seniors with a permanent address in Western Colorado that are determined to be of good character, high aims and industrious habits. Awards based on financial need, educational achievement and goals. See your local Big O Tires for an application. Apply by April 15th. Brayman-Beach College Scholarship Awarded to undergraduate students who are credit union members pursuing a degree in business. March 31st. Provided to high school seniors who are residents of Colorado and demonstrate financial need. Applicants may attend colleges anywhere in the United States but must be residents of Colorado. CollegeInvest Opportunity Scholarship 38 scholarships of $1,000 each are randomly awarded to full-time Colorado students who attend a Colorado university in the fall of 2009, who complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and have an EFC (Expected Family Contribution) of $15,000 or less (FAFSA does not have to be completed prior to registering). Applications available in the Fall. CollegeInvest Service Scholarship 27 scholarships of $6,000 each will be randomly awarded over a two-year period ($3,000 each year), to full-time Colorado students who attend a Colorado university in fall of 2009 and 2010; complete who complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and have an EFC (Expected Family Contribution) of $15,000 or less (FAFSA does not have to be completed prior to registering); and commit to 40 hours each year in a service-to-children volunteer program. Applications available in the Fall. Colorado Association for the Education of Young Children For Colorado residents enrolled in early childhood education. Apply by March 12, 2010 $1000 scholarship for an aspiring Colorado writer. Available to legal Colorado residents who are enrolled full time, have completed at least 12 undergraduate hours, have a min GPA OF 2.5 and demonstrate financial need. Fill out application and write an essay about "Why I Write". Apply by April 1st. Colorado Business and Professional Women's Foundation, Inc. Scholarships for women with financial need, non-traditional age (25 or older), GPA of 3.0, with examples of leadership skills, who have career goals and show progress towards reaching academic goals. Apply May 31st for fall semester and Oct. 31st for spring semester. Colorado Educational Services and Development Association-Diversity Scholarship Applicants must be high school seniors and first generation students, or member of an underrepresented ethnic or racial minority, and/or show financial need. Must be Colorado residents with a min GPA of 2.8. Colorado Masons Benevolent Fund Association Contact: Mr. Ronald R. Kadera 1-800-482-4441 or Apply by January 31st. Must be a Colorado resident majoring in accounting with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Apply by November 15th for Spring. There are scholarship opportunities for students who graduated from high school, Colorado residents attending college in-state, teachers and scholarships for merit/need/community service. Douglas County Branch - American Association of University Women Provides a scholarship for undergraduate women, residents of Douglas County, 3.0 GPA or above, active in family and community activities, demonstrates financial need, able to demonstrate future goals and/or career objectives. Obtain application forms at the reference desk of any Douglas County Public Library. Apply by June 30th. Education First Foundation Scholarship For high school seniors who attend West and North High Schools and who demonstrate strong character, a commitment to learning, and a vision for their future. Apply by January 4th. For Colorado high school seniors with a min GPA of 3.5 who demonstrate financial need, community service, overcoming an obstacle, and leadership skills. Apply by January 20th. Latin America Educational Foundation For Colorado residents of Hispanic heritage and/or actively involved in the Hispanic community with a min GPA of 3.0. Recipients are required to fulfill 10hrs. of community service. Apply by March 1st. National Council of Jewish Women For Jewish women at least 16 years of age who are Colorado residents, involved in the community, and have a good academic record. If interested, contact the organization through their website. Benefits children of Colorado workers killed or permanently injured by a work-related accident or occupational disease. Apply by March 31st. For incoming freshmen who are Colorado residents (graduated from a Colorado high school). Min 3.0 GPA required. Students can apply after receiving their letter of acceptance from the University of Denver. Selection is based on financial need, academics, passion for a core issue area, and prior demonstration of outstanding service and commitment to the community. Early action deadline Feb 13th. Regular decision deadline April 10th. For Colorado residents. Scholarships are awarded each year on the basis of merit toprovide a scholarship for four years of continuous study. Min GPA of 3.8, ACT 31, SAT 2040. Apply by April 3rd. Rocky Mountain Society of Women Engineers (3) $1250 Scholarships for undergraduate students enrolled in an accredited program for engineering or computer science. Students must be from Colorado or Wyoming and have a min GPA of 3.0, Apply by February 1st. Saccomanno Higher Education FoundationMust be residents of Mesa County, Colorado or Carbon County, Utah. Provides assistance to Black/African American students for college level education. Applicants must be a full time Colorado resident for a minimum of 5 years. Residence due to military orders to Colorado may be accepted on a case by case basis. Apply by March 1st. Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Applicants must have lost a parent to breast cancer; for high school and undergraduate students planning to attend a state-supported college or university in the state where they permanently reside (Colorado). Apply by February 1st. White Rose Scholarship Foundation White Rose Scholarship recipients are chosen on the basis of academic achievement, community service, and financial need, without regard for a person's gender, age, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, race, color, creed, lifestyle, or background.
