How to Apply Follow the steps below as a simple and convenient guide to apply for financial aid at the University of Denver for the 2009-2010 Academic Year (Fall 2009-Summer 2010.) Step 1: Apply for Admission to the University of Denver (if not already admitted.) We cannot process your financial aid application until you are officially admitted to the University. Please submit your application as soon as possible. Step 2: Complete the CSS PROFILE for 2009-2010. The CSS PROFILE will be available October 1st along with an updated Registration Guide, which provides instructions on completing and submitting the Profile. DU's CSS PROFILE code is 4842. Step 3: Complete the 2008-2009 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA.) All students requesting need-based assistance will need to complete the FAFSA using their PIN, or Personal Identification Number. First, students and parents should both apply for their own US Department of Education PIN. If you or your parents have a PIN from a previous year, please use that. If you have forgotten your PIN, the site listed above will help you retrieve it. The school code for the University of Denver is 001371. If you have not yet filed your 2008 federal tax return, estimate your most recent income and taxes. Step 4: Turn in all required documents to the University of Denver Office of Financial Aid. These documents will include signed copies of both the student and parent 2007 federal tax returns and W-2s. Acceptable tax forms include: 1040, 1040A, 1040EZ, a tax return from Puerto Rico, or a foreign income tax return. The University of Denver does not accept E-File Income Tax Summaries. Please request a paper copy of the long form if you filed your taxes electronically by calling 800.829.1040. The University does not need copies of your state returns. The Office of Financial Aid will notify students of any additional requirements using the FAFSA-reported email address or official DU email address. Step 5: Accept your financial aid award. Please note: additional documents may be required after accepting award items online. |
