Fall Quarter Disbursement of Aid & Refunds
The fall quarter tuition bill is due on September 4th. On that date, your student's financial aid for fall quarter will disburse to his or her student account and will pay toward current charges—as long as all financial aid requirements are satisfied.
In order to receive financial aid, your student must:
- be registered for classes (learn about enrollment requirements),
- have accepted all financial aid through PioneerWeb, and
- have no outstanding requirements.
Expecting a refund? If the amount of financial aid that disburses is more than the total of your student's charges, a refund will be generated by the Bursar's Office on Tuesday, September 8th. Students who have direct deposit can expect to see their refund in their bank account on September 9th.
An important note about new students:
Because incoming undergraduates do not register for classes until Discoveries Orientation, billing and disbursement of aid occurs later than current students. For new students, the fall quarter bill will be generated by the Bursar's office and financial aid will disburse once they have registered for classes during orientation. Any refund expected will be generated 2-3 business days later, and the bill due date is not until September 25th.

New Tuition Payment Portal
The University of Denver has implemented a new payment portal for DU tuition payments called DUPay. While the old system let students share their account information with one additional person, the new payment portal allows for multiple users to access their account (i.e. parents). It also offers other features, such as setting up recurring payments and scheduling payments in advance.

Access to Student Information
The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) prohibits the University of Denver from releasing a student's financial aid records to anyone—including parents—without the student's written consent, regardless of his or her age or who is paying the student's bills. While we are happy to assist you, we cannot discuss your son or daughter's financial aid without his or her written consent. Any student who wishes to release their information must complete a Release of Confidential Student Record Information, which can be done through PioneerWeb.
For more information, review the FERPA Guide for DU Families and Frequently Asked Questions from the DU Registrar.
Smart Loan Borrowing
We encourage you to speak to your student about smart loan borrowing, and to help ensure your student is only borrowing what he or she absolutely needs for the 2015-16 academic year. The Federal Student Aid Repayment Estimator can assist you in estimating future monthly federal student loan payments under each repayment plan. By helping your student monitor borrowing while he or she is still in school, you can be sure there won't be any surprises at graduation!
Office Hours on Labor Day
Although the University of Denver is closed on Monday, September 7th to observe the Labor Day holiday, our office will be open from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Have a question about your student's financial aid? Call us or stop by University Hall 255 during those hours. We'll be happy to help you!
