Financial Aid for Law Students
Learn about the types of aid available.
We will work closely with you to help you identify and secure every form of aid for which you are eligible. Both the Sturm College of Law and our office administer the awarding of financial aid for law students. Your financial aid package may contain a combination of some of the following types of aid:
Other Resources
There may be other resources to assist you with the financing of your law school education, including veteran's benefits and employer tuition waivers.
Veteran's Benefits:
- Information about most Veteran's Benefits programs is available at www.GIBill.va.gov.
- For information about Vocational Rehabilitation Benefits, go to www.vfa.va.gov/bln/vre.
- The University of Denver participates in the Yellow Ribbon Program.
Starting in the 2012 Fall semester, eligible students can receive up to $18,077.50 annually from the VA toward tuition and fees (through the Post-9/11 GI Bill.) Those eligible for 100% of their benefits under this bill are also eligible for funding through the Yellow Ribbon Program.
Through the Yellow Ribbon Program, DU provides eligible students with up to $2,500 per year which is matched by the VA. This means that students can receive up to $22,500 in annual funding through a combination of the Post-9/11 GI Bill and the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligibility for both programs is determined by the VA.
You must complete and submit an Application for Certification of Enrollment to the Office of the Registrar in order to be certified and receive your benefits. All questions about Veteran's Benefits should be directed to Michelle Hanson in the Registrar's Office at michelle.hanson@du.edu or 303-871-4878.
Employer Tuition Waivers or Reimbursements:
Some employers may provide partial or full tuition reimbursement to employees or dependents. Check with your employer to see if you qualify.
While not on your award letter, tuition waivers are included as a part of your total financial aid package. Therefore, the combination of your grants, scholarships, loans and tuition waivers cannot exceed your cost of attendance. If you believe this is the case, please contact our office, as we may need to adjust your financial aid award.
Further information about employer reimbursements and third party direct payments is available through the Bursar's Office. If you are a current employee of DU, information about the tuition waiver benefit is available through Human Resources.
