Geographic Information Systems Labs

Located in the Department of Geography & the Environment in Boettcher Center West, the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Labs provide instructional, technical and research support to the University of Denver community. An essential component of GIS education programs, our software resources enable the development of geotechnology skills essential to understanding spatial data, geography, cartography, and their relationship with the human and physical world.

GIS Certificate Program

Pursue a graduate certificate entirely online as you build your technical and management skills in GIS! Offered by the University of Denver’s college of continuing and professional studies, University College, a graduate certificate in GIS will prepare you to plan, launch, and execute GIS projects using remote sensing, internet mapping, and digital image processing. Four- and six-course certificates are available in topics such as public safety or unmanned aircraft systems. The graduate certificate serves as a pathway to the MSGISc degree (though not a prerequisite for the master’s degree).

Master of Science (MS) Degree in Geographic Information Science

The Master of Science (MS) in geographic information science (GISc) is designed for students interested in careers in GIS. The program provides in-depth study of geospatial skills, including cartography, remote sensing, Geographic Information Systems, and Global Navigation Satellite Systems. Digital solutions and data analysis are increasingly essential in the way we understand geography, cartography, and how they relate to the human and physical world. The US Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts demand for graduates with geospatial skills will grow by 30 percent by 2024.
