St. Francis Study

This qualitative study will assess the perceptions of a sample of homeless population on the Employment Program provided by the St. Francis Center. This shelter, located in downtown Denver, provides a variety of services for the homeless including job counseling and salary negotiation. The research purpose will be to correlate the information collected during background research with the Center on Rights Development (CORD) at the University of Denver to the felt needs of the homeless population with regard to employment. Also, the study is intended to highlight potential policy implications and actionable changes to make the Employment Program more effective.

Primary Investigator: Tommaso Diegoli
Assistant Investigators: Manisha Abraham, Mariko Frame, Matthias Hildebrandt

The Case of the St. Francis Center in Denver

Shoe Drive

Do you have old shoes you don't know how to dispose of?
Have you ever thought you should do something for the homeless in your community?

There's a way you can help yourself and the homeless. We are now organizing a shoe drive to benefit the homeless at the St. Francis Center of downtown Denver. This shelter provides a number of important services for the homeless. Unfortunately, at St. Francis they are in desperate need of shoes.

Here's what you can do to help out: just pick the pair(s) of shoes you no longer use and drop them in the marked collection boxes you'll find in the GSIS lobby (West entrance)!

When: all year long!
Where: GSIS lobby (West entrance)

Thanks for your help!

Service Outreach Visits

CORD is carrying out service outreach visits to employment centers, within charity and city institutions, providing service for the homeless, to gather information on how disadvantaged individuals in metro Denver look for an employment. Further studies will be produced along the line of the St. Francis Study.
