FINANCIAL AID
Information
The cost of education at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies requires a major financial commitment. While the Josef Korbel School of International Studies awards more than three-quarters of a million dollars in aid annually (not including loans and work-study funds), very few awards approach the full expenses of tuition, room, and board. Therefore, the Josef Korbel School of International Studies strongly recommends that students pursue outside scholarships and loans.
Financial assistance is available through US federal loan programs, the Josef Korbel School of International Studies merit based scholarships, and external sources (ie., private foundations and international associations, etc). US citizens and permanent residents of the US must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, (FAFSA) to be considered for departmental funding, federally sponsored loans (Stafford Loans and Perkins Loans), and work-study positions. International students cannot file the FAFSA and thus are not eligible for federal funding.
The quickest way to obtain and file a FAFSA is online, at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You can also obtain a paper form from any college or university financial aid office. You must renew your FAFSA every year. The University of Denver’s Central Office of Financial Aid Office will send notification of loan eligibility in April via US Post to all incoming students and via DU email account to all current students.
