FINANCIAL AID

International Student Funding

There are several options to assist international students with their financial needs as a graduate student at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies. While international students do not qualify for federal financial aid, there are many alternative sources for funding. The following are some helpful resources.

Merit Funding at the Josef Korbel School of International Studies

International students are eligible for the Josef Korbel School of International Studies guaranteed scholarships and merit funding. For additional information click the “Josef Korbel School of International Studies Funding” link to the left.

Private Loans

Private educational loans are an important funding source for international students who do not qualify for federal loan programs. The terms of private loans vary significantly and these loans have higher rates than federal loans because the federal government does not guarantee them. They require a credit check and, typically, a co-signer.

The University of Denver (DU) recommends that students compare lenders and make informed loan selection choices. The Central Financial Aid Office provides information on lenders who offer competitive products, high quality customer service and meet the University's electronic processing requirements. This information provided is to give you an idea of what is available; for specific information regarding terms and rates, please contact the lenders directly. Links to relevant websites are provided for each loan program. If you decide to use a lender other than those listed, the extra processing time may delay the arrival of your funds. Apply early, as processing may take several weeks.
